Growing up with a deep-rooted connection to farming and agriculture, my childhood was filled with memories of visits to the farm, blackberry picking, and learning the art of cheese and onion pies from scratch, just like my nan taught me. With grandparents who ran a butcher business, my passion for farming and good food was nurtured from a young age. Every year, our family tradition included a trip to the Great Yorkshire Show, where my love for all things farming blossomed.
One of my fondest memories is of my nan sewing quillows for each of us grandchildren. While my sisters received floral and beach-themed quillows, mine was farm-themed, a testament to my unwavering passion for the land and its bounty.
As a parent now, I am driven by the desire to instil the same love for farming and nature in my own children. Though I currently have only a small piece of land in Cornwall my dream is to expand it into a thriving farm where my children and other children can learn about sustainable agriculture, seasonal harvesting, and the importance of knowing where our food comes from.
Inspired by all of this and fuelled by a desire to create a platform for farmers facing struggles in today's market, I founded Fat Pig Farm Shop. Our mission is simple yet profound: to provide a space where farmers, sellers, and growers can come together, free from the constraints of price dictation of market manipulation.
At Fat Pig Farm Shop, we believe in empowering farmers by giving them a voice and a fair platform to showcase their products. Our website serves as a hub where farmers can list their offerings, connect with buyers directly, and foster a sense of community and solidarity within the farming industry.
Driven by the ethos of fairness and transparency, we only charge standard transaction fees (we cant get away from those) and a nominal amount for maintaining the website.
